Mr. Nelson’s current practice focuses on preparing and prosecuting patent applications before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
Background

Mr. Nelson has prepared and prosecuted patent application in various technological areas including computer hardware, computer software, communications systems, optical systems, down-hole drilling, networking, electrical circuits, and mechanical devices.
Before pursing a career in intellectual property protection Mr. Nelson worked as an electrical engineer for TOR Engineering in Phoenix, Arizona. At TOR he worked as a designer and consultant for various utility companies including Arizona Public Service, Salt River Project, and the Western Area Power Administration. He provided consulting regarding national and local safety codes, supervised the design of numerous power grid systems, and acted as the company’s primary liaison to clients and public officials within the Sedona and Prescott areas. Mr. Nelson gained experience in calculating grid loading, overhead and underground system design, and grid interfacing with substations.
Mr. Nelson’s formal electrical engineering studies included courses in electrical networks, electronic devices and instrumentation, properties of electronic materials, microprocessor design, power systems, signals and systems, and random signal analysis. During his undergraduate studies he specialized in the fields of communications systems, electromagnetics, and solid state devices and completed research projects involving reflectivity properties of silicon compositions and microwave antennas.
