Current Practice

Ms. Nelson’s current practice focuses on patent litigation including researching and drafting initial pleadings, motions, and supporting memoranda. She also assists in discovery matters and deposition preparation.
Background

Before joining PATE PIERCE & BAIRD in an of-counsel position Ms. Nelson’s efforts focused on drafting and prosecuting foreign and domestic patent applications directed to a wide range of technologies. These areas include the chemical and pharmaceutical arts, medical devices, and other mechanical, electrical, and software based devices and methods. Ms. Nelson has drafted numerous patent applications directed to down-hole drilling technologies and intelligent communication between down-hole drilling components.
Ms. Nelson has prepared and prosecuted trademark applications in the United States and internationally. She has drafted and negotiated numerous licensing agreements on behalf of providers and end-users, and provided counsel with respect to copyright and other intellectual property issues.
Ms. Nelson's formal studies have included courses in biochemistry, neurobiology, molecular biology, cellular Biology, microbiology, inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, human physiology, anatomy, and comparative physiology. Ms. Nelson speaks and writes Spanish.
